Other People's Shows: TacosNachosBurritos
Longtime buddy TacosNachosBurrtios is having a show of his own this Sunday over at Gold Star on Division Street. 1755 W. Division.
The show starts Sunday, October 17 at 5:30 PM.
TNB typically works in street photography and historical documentation but also veers into the fine art/quizzical portraiture genres. His photos work best in a series and after spending a few minutes with them, one realizes that he's done the hardest thing there is to do in photography - create a style where people look at it and go, "holy crap, that's a TNB."
Anyway, it should be fun.

Beyond the Coyote
As usual, Beyond the Coyote (nee smARTshow) was a blast. Met some interesting new people and got to catch up with old friends. There was a decent crowd despite what might have been the last nice weekend of summer.
Thanks to everybody who came out - we look forward to seeing you again in December (dates TBA).

Beyond the Coyote, September 10, 11, 12 2010
We're showing at the Beyond the Coyote Festival this year (September 10, 11 & 12). $10 gets you three days of art & music, 150 artists and one hell of a time. You'll see things you've never seen before and probably never will again.
Schedule is: 6-10 on Friday the 10th, Noon-10pm on Saturday the 11th, Noon-6pm Sunday the 12th. Location is the Flat Iron building at the intersection of North, Milwaukee and Damen. Blue line, North Ave. Milwaukee and Damen buses are all right there.
Friday night is the party night - great for people watching. Saturday afternoon is a great time to talk to the artists and Saturday night is usually a fun time, but more laid back than Friday night. Sunday is for serious art collectors.
If you can't have fun here, you probably can't have fun anywhere....

Art Sharks!
The Shedd Aquarium held their 2nd annual Art Sharks event last weekend. The premise is that each artist donates a piece to the museum and during the Art Sharks event proper, all the art is displayed on movable partitions in the aquarium (I was there with Buddha, appropriately placed next to the Asian Bog). An hour-long reception let the artists and attendees mingle while the attendees look at the art. After a dinner (for the attendees, the artists had left by that point), random numbers were called and the guest with that number got to run (literally, run) to the piece of art they liked most and take it off the wall to come home with them. So, if your piece was popular, it would go fast....What a cool idea.
No pictures, but we did have a great time!

Post-Showing News: Chicago Art on Track
I hope you had a chance to make it down to Chicago Art on Track, where an entire el train was transformed into a mobile art gallery. Broken Horizon was shown.
For those who weren't able to attend, the theme was "Chicago artists and their inspiration." The exhibit would have looked something like:
"Many times inspiration is nothing more than discovering why something is interesting rather than making excuses about why it isn't."
